Houston Airports maintains trust as record Spring Break crowds flock to terminals

'Keep doing a great job' | Houston Mayor praises airport system for efficient, safe passenger experience during travel rush.
Houston Airports wrapped Spring Break 2024 by welcoming an unprecedented 2.3 million passengers through Bush and Hobby airports. Despite continued construction of the new Mickey Leland International Terminal at IAH, Houston Airports and Houston Police were able to keep traffic flowing.

“Keep on doing a great job. The difference in being user-friendly since you’ve taken leadership is really noticeable,” said Houston Mayor John Whitmire to Jim Szczesniak, Director of Aviation for Houston Airports.

CONSTRUCTION

United Airlines shifts IAH Arrivals/Departures curbs as transformation of Terminal B moves forward

The changes to the curbs were made in late March.
  • The new Arrivals curb is now along South Terminal Road
  • The new Departures curb is now along North Terminal Road

The $2.55 billion Terminal B Transformation will cater to the future needs of an estimated 36 million United Airlines passengers at Bush Airport with the addition of: 
  • 40 new gates for domestic, international travel
  • New central processor & baggage handling system
  • Largest Club in United's network
